Trekking in India
Trekking, one of the most popular adventure sports in India, attracts
tourists from all over the world. Indian mountains offers numerous
breathtaking and exciting trekking routes. Trekking lovers can explore the
natural beauty of the high mountains, with the shimmering waterfalls,

basic category of treks such as Low, Moderate and High altitude. Low
altitude treks are less than 3,000 metres in height, while Moderate treks
are up to 4,500 metres in height, up to 5,500 metres high treks are
considered as High altitude trek. High altitude trek needs tough body.

Darjeeling
Trekking
The
hill station of Darjeeling, located in the East Himalayan ranges, is one
of the best trekking routes in India. The Singalila range in a very famous
trekking site, other popular trekking routes are Batast, Tonglo,
Sandakphu, Phalut and Kalimpong. Darjeeling is blessed with salubrious
climate, that provides a refreshing and rejuvenating experience to the
trekkers. The Darjeeling treks offer breathtaking views of Kanchenjunga,
Everest, Lhotsa and Makalu peaks. Trekkers also get the chance to see the
Himalayan flora, fauna, birds and wildlife along the trekking route.
Trekking in Ladakh
Located at a height of 4600 metres, Ladakh is sandwiched between the
Great Himalayan Ranges and the Tibetan Plateau. The most famous trekking
routes in Ladakh include Markha Valley trek, Lamayuru Padum trek and the
Stok Khangri round trek. Major attractions in Ladakh are the mysterious
valleys of Suru and Zanksar, which are famous for their spectacular
scenery. The most interesting fact about Ladakh has no natural forests,
only a bit of greenery spreads on the river banks.
Trekking in Garhwal & Kummaon
Garhwal and Kummaon Trekking regions are considered as a virtual paradise
for trekkers.. The picturesque trekking ranges are a blend of high
mountains valleys, lakes, several streams and rivers. The archaeological
remains scattered all around the regions add more beauty. Garhwal hills
comprising the districts of Uttarakashi, Tehri- Garhwal, Pauri-Garhwal,
Dehra Dun and Chamoli. In Kumaon trekking can be done at the confluence of
the rivers Pindar, Gori, and Dhauli.

Trekking in Sikkim
Sikkim trekking is perfect for those who are looking for excitement along
with the adventure. The trekking routes passes through the virgin forests,
verdant valleys and ancient monasteries, offer an unforgettable
experience. The trekkers who pass through the mountain treks, establish a
close relationship with nature. The most delightful trekking route in
Sikkim is the Gangtok-Pemanyangtse-Yoksum-Dzongri trekking route. Other
famous treks are Tendong hill, Menam hill, Namchi or Damthang to
Tendong-Ravangla-Menam-Borong.

trekking regions like the Amarnath Trekking and Gulmarg Trekking.
Trekking in Himachal Pradesh
Shoja, a village located at altitude of 9,000 feet is the popular
trekking destination of Himachal Pradesh. Situated amidst beautiful
surroundings, Shoja is dotted with towering alpine trees and vibrantly
coloured wild flowers. While trekking, the trekkers get a close view
of the variety of birds, flora and fauna and other numerous forts and
temples. Himachal Pradesh trekking originates from Shoja and leads to
Jalori pass, Sereolsar Alpine Lake, Lambiri, Bachleo Pass and the
Great Himalayan National Park.
Essentials for Trekking
The trekkers must be physically fit, and they requires many essential
items before starting trekking. Trekking essentials are sun cream, sun
glasses, a cap, a jacket, a sleeping bag, a self inflating mattress,
an electric torch, a pair of trousers, sweaters, gloves, fluid and
Vitamin C and aspirin pills.
Best Time for Trekking
The late Spring to Summer is the main trekking season in the
Himalayan ranges. May to October, is the best time to go for trekking
in trekking regions of India.
