Rajasthan Destinations

Rajasthan the largest state of India in terms of area, has many places of tourist interest. The massive palaces of Jaipur, lakes of Udaipur and desert forts of Jaisalmer are the most popular attractions, both for Indian and foreign tourists. Besides the state is home to Wildlife sanctuaries, temples, mountains, camels and elephants.

The arts, crafts, fairs and festivals and fold music and dance depicts the rich culture of Rajasthan. The people of the state still have the old charm and vibrant colours in their life. The great Indian desert, Thar Desert spreads in the western Rajasthan, which makes the land of Rajasthan diversified. The Ghaggar river along with the serene lakes make the surroundings of Rajasthan more beautiful. Mount Abu is the only hill station of Rajasthan, which is also famous for housing the Dilwara Jain Temples. Ranthambore and Sariska Wildlife Park are famous tiger reserves, while Keoladeo National Park near Bharatpur is popular for birds.

Jaipur
The capital city of Rajasthan is also called as the Pink city. Jaipur is the major attraction for the first time visitor of Rajasthan. Jaipur is a busy city and a business centre but it has not lost old charm. The city is surrounded by hills, crowned with forts and encircled by embattled walls. The forts and palaces are the main attractions of Jaipur, which include City Palace, Amer Palace, Hawa Mahal and Nahargarh Fort. Jantar Mantar, Government Central Museum and Gardens are other attractions of Jaipur.

Jodhpur
Jodhpur the second largest city of Rajasthan, and is the gateway to the amazing land of sand dunes and shrubs, rocky terrain and thorny trees. Set on the eastern fringe of the Thar Desert, the royal city echoes with tales of antiquity in the emptiness of the desert. Once the capital of the Marwar state, it was the home of the Rathores. The massive palaces, forts and temples spread all over the city bring alive the historic grandeur, exquisite handicrafts , folk dances music and the brightly attired people lend a romantic aura to Jodhpur. The important tourist places in Jodpur include Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada, Umaid Bhawan Palace, Museum, Girikot and Sardar Market etc.

Jaisalmer
Jaisalmer also referred as the city of towers, is a perfect blend of beautiful culture and harsh climatic conditions, that make the journey a memorable one. The old city of Jaisalmer was completely encircled by a wall. Jaisalmer fort is perhaps the world's only fort where medieval pattern of life still prevails. The fort built of the popular Jurassic sandstone rises like a mirage from the Thar Desert. Besides the fort other attractions are Desert Festival, Camel races, Folk music and dance, Desert ballads, Puppeteers, Fire walkers and Sword swallowers.

Udaipur
The city of Udaipur is a lovely land situated around the Azure water lakes, amidst the lush green Aravalli ranges. It is the land of fairy-tale palaces, temples, lakes, gardens and narrow lanes strewn with stalls. Among the famous tourist attractions in Udaipur are City Palace, The Suraj Gokhada, Jagdish Temple, Bharatiya Lok Kala Mandir, Saheliyon-ki-Bari (Garden of the maids of Honour), Ahar, Fateh Sagar, Pichhola Lake, Pratap Memorial, Sajjan Garh and Gulab Bagh.


Bikaner
The city situated in the north of Rajasthan is dotted with scores of sand dunes. Bikaner retains its medieval grandeur, which is visible in the lifestyle of the city. The city is famous as the camel country is also known for its temples, forts, palaces and colorful markets. Some of the places of tourist interest are Junagarh Fort, Lalgarh Palace and Ganga Golden Jubilee Museum and Karni Mata Temple.

Pushkar
Situated on the edge of the desert, Pushkar is separated from Ajmer by Nag Parbat (the Snake Hill). The town is famous for Pushkar Camel Fair, which is one of the largest in India and the only one of its kind in the world. It usually takes place in October or November during which lakhs of people from rural India flock to Pushkar. During the fair the small town transforms into a cultural hub as colorfully dressed devotees, musicians, acrobats, folk dancers, traders, comedians, sadhus and tourists reach here.


Ranthambore
Ranthambore located at a distance of 132 Kms from Jaipur, lies on Kota-Bharatpur road. The place is famous for Ranthambore National Park, which is last and virgin forest of India. Ranthambore National Park has number of lakes and several perennial rivers. Ranthambore was declared a Tiger reserve in 1986, apart from Tiger, the park is home to Panthers, Hyenas, Jackals, Jungle cats, Caracals, Crocodiles. Sambar, Sloth bears, Nilgai, Chital, Wild boars and Chinkara etc. The timings to visit the park in between October To March

6.00 am - 9.00 am & 3.00 pm - 6.00 pm and between April To June
6.30 am - to 9.30 am & 3.30 pm - 6.00 pm.
