About the Festival
The ten day Taj Mahotsav at Agra is a cultural platform that brings the
finest crafts and culture of India together. The Taj Mahotsav is a festive
introduction to the city of Agra and the Uttar Pradesh. Agra is known for
its magnificent monuments dating back to many centuries. The arts, crafts
and culture which defines the rich heritage of Uttar Pradesh are on
display during the festival.
What Happens During the Festival
Conducted by the Uttar Pradesh tourism department, the impressive
festival begins with a beautiful procession inspired by Mughal grandeur.
The glorious past of the Mughal dynasty is recreated by bedecked elephants
and camels, drum beaters, folk artist and master craftsmen.

Exhibition of Arts and Crafts
The area around the venue comes alive with the culture, crafts and
traditions of the state. The Mahotsav provides a great opportunity to the
legendary artisans who can display their brilliant works of art. The
marble inlays of course rule the festival, besides these crafts include
wood carvings from Saharanpur, brass and other metal ware from Morabad is
major attraction. The other attractions of the festival are handmade
carpets of Badohi, the chikan-work of Lucknow, the pottery of Khurja and
the silk of Banaras etc. The Taj Mahotsav is truly India at her best with
a glimpse of her rich heritage and extraordinary legacies.
Dances in the Festival
During the mahotsav different kinds of dances are performed. One can
experience a perfect mixture of folk music and dances of Dundelkhan,
Nautanki (Drama), Sapera dance of Rajathan, Lavani of Maharastra. In
addition various types of classical dances are also presented. Visitors
enjoy the dances by join in with the folk dancers and swinging to a
different tune and dance style.

Foods in the Festival
One can expect an Indian festival without the traditional Indian
foods. Some of the best and richest foods of the state are prepared
during the festival.

By Air : Kheria airport of Agra is connected with
all the major cities in the country.
By Rail : The Agra Cantt, Railway station has
trains to almost every major cities in India.
By Road : The state transport buses runs regularly
to other places in Uttar Pradesh as well as outside the state.
