(holy), which comes alive during the Urs and attracts thousands of
devotees irrespective of caste, religion etc. This is the tomb of great
Sufi saint, Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti. The sick, the troubled and the
childless visit the Dargah Sharif seeking a boon or just peace of mind.
There is an endless flow of visitors to the Dargah. At the Dargah where
the saint lies buried, thousands of colored threads have been tied seeking
a boon. When the wish is granted, those blessed will come back to fulfill
their vow may be spread a 'chaddar' or sheet on the Dargah or serve
a meal to the poor and destitute who hang around there.
Every year, the Urs is held at the dargah/tomb, honoring Khwaja's symbolic
union with God. Devotees from all over the world gather here to pay their
devotion. Qawaalis (poems) are sung during Urs for Saint's honor. Urs is
celebrated from the 1st to the 6th day of Rajab, the seventh month of the
Islamic calender. The celebration is initiated by the hoisting of a white
flag on the dargah. The tomb is washed with rosewater and covered with an
